The Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design (The Cass) at London Metropolitan University will open its 2015 Summer Shows on Thursday, 11 June.

From June 11, Central House will be transformed into a huge art gallery showcasing work from hundreds of graduating students. This year there will be two exhibitions, each opening with a private view.
Summer Show Part 1 is a week long, interactive exhibition displaying work from Art, Photography, Illustration, Animation, Graphic Design, Music Production, Film and Animation students.
Paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and collages by Fine Art students will cover the walls of Central House, exploring themes of the appeal of pop-culture in art, performance art, digital technology how it influences art.
The images on display from BA Photography students look at self-reflection through photography as well as intensely examining the different ways to create of images.
Students from all the Visual Communications courses will come together on the third floor of Central House to form Hot House, a live editorial desk which, over the course of the week, will illustrate the process of design from idea conception to final design.
The Hothouse team will be hosting daily workshops, led by industry experts, to teach attendees the basics in typography, branding, drawing, and magazine layout. The workshops are open to the public.
The Cass Music students will present handcrafted musical instruments, interactive installations, computer games, film screenings with 5.1 surround sound and a live music space titled Soundtrack produced by third year students in music production.
Films will be screened in Central House throughout Part 1 showing shorts, webisodes and animations from first to third year students. Their work explores the impact of new technologies on human experience, the influence of screen fiction in documentaries as well as to creating their own film production company, We Make Film.
The BFI Southbank’s FINAL CUTS film festival will screen work from The Cass students on 17 June from 2pm.
Animation students will display industry inspired work. Over the last year they were tasked with client briefs, to work either in advertising or narrative. Their responses deliver professional and brand aware outcomes and will be shown through traditional film screenings, immersive experiences, projection mapping and 3D zoetropes.
Summer Show Part 1 is opend from 12-20 June 2015, the exhibition opens with a private view on 11 June 2015 from 6.30pm.
