Torange Khonsari explores the power of civic commons from the TEDx stage in Tottenham.

Torange Khonsari, course leader for the Design for Cultural Commons MA, took to the TEDx stage to explore the relationship between the state and civil society in city making and how the physical wealth produced can be shared as a valuable and communal resource.
TEDxTottenham is an independently organised and volunteer-led event, based Tottenham. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share an experience like the centrally organised TED events.
As Tottenham’s very own platform for ideas worth spreading enters its fourth iteration, the theme for TEDxTottenham this year was “The Place We Make”. The event featured inspirational speakers and performers to showcase Tottenham as an emerging hub of innovation and as a challenger to the established power centres within London.
