Cass alumnus selected for BP Portrait Awards 2019

The prestigious annual exhibition begins 13 June.

Tedi Lena, a Cass Fine Art (BA) alumnus, has been named one of the 44 artists selected for the BP Portrait Awards 2019.

The award ceremony takes place 10 June, with the exhibition opening to the public on 13 June, running until 20 October 2019 at the National Portrait Gallery.

Tedi’s life painting portrait of artist Frank Bowling OBE is the work that has been selected for the exhibition.

Graduating from London Metropolitan University last summer with a first class award, Tedi was also awarded the Owen Rowley prize for Fine Art.

The BP Portrait Awards is considered the most prestigious portrait painting competition in the world. The total prize fund amounts to £74,000, with the winner getting £35,000. The main aim of the award is to encourage artists to focus and develop portraiture in their work.
