Anthony Abebrese, course leader for the Fashion Retail Management - BA (Hons) degree has been immortalised in a piece of art by world famous eccentric artists Gilbert and George. Anthony is part of the new exhibition at the Tate Modern, which runs throughout November showcasing their vivid style.
Gilbert & George have been at the forefront of British conceptual Art for over 29 years and Anthony met the duo when they were students studying sculpture at University.
Gilbert & George’s core belief which is central to all their work is 'art for all'. They believe that everything is a potential subject matter for their work, and they address social issues, taboos and artistic conventions. Their trademark images are reminiscent of large cathedral windows, grid, squares or rectangular pictures broken into sections. Implicit in their work is the idea that an artist’s sacrifice and personal investment is a necessary condition of art.
