If you're looking to learn or develop your knowledge of a language, our Open Language Programme offers a number of part-time courses that will help you develop these skills using a wide variety of teaching methods. Available at different levels, from beginner to advanced, each course combines face-to-face teaching with access to online materials and activities.
The courses we offer include Arabic, Arabic Business, Advanced English for Work and Study, Business English, English Language Advanced and Proficiency, French, German, Spanish, and Spanish for Business and Work. These courses are Extension of Knowledge modules and can be taken as part of your undergraduate studies here at London Met or as stand-alone courses by members of the public.
If the structure of your course allows you to take an Extension of Knowledge module (15 credits), you can opt to study a language through the Open Language Programme. To register for the Open Language Programme, ensure you have recorded the generic language (OLP) module code OL0000 as part of your programme of study, either online or on a module registration form. Once your programme has been approved, come along to one of our evaluation sessions to complete your enrolment. We're currently enrolling students for autumn 2016. If you don't have the option to take an Extension of Knowledge module you can sign up for the Open Language Programme as a paying student (see below).
All our Open Language Programme courses are open to fee-paying members of the public. You'll be learning alongside university students and have access to all the learning resources the University has to offer. Students who take an Open Language Programme module as a stand-alone course will receive a certificate of attendance only.
For courses beginning in autumn 2016:
- One-term module (15 credits): £315
- Two modules: £520
To register for one of our Open Language Programmes course please come to one of our language evaluation sessions with a passport-sized photo. We'll assess your language level and discuss your learning needs, then you'll be able to enrol. You can make payment on the day.
