Global British Citizens Scholarship

Our Global British Citizens Scholarship will automatically be applied to eligible UK citizens with overseas fee status starting a degree with us in September 2026, January 2027 or May 2027. This scholarship includes a tuition fee reduction, offering our courses at the same tuition cost as our home students, for the duration of your studies and is applicable to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Eligibility criteria

In order to meet the criteria, you must:

  • Be a new student who has applied for an undergraduate or postgraduate degree with us starting in September 2026, January 2027 or May 2027
  • Be classified as an international fee payer
  • Hold UK citizenship (demonstrated via a UK passport with nationality "British Citizen")
  • Hold an offer for a full-time, full-degree programme delivered at one of our London campuses.

Scholarship value

Depending on the school and level of studying you are applying for, your scholarship value may vary. Students should refer to their offer letter for confirmation of tuition fees and scholarship amount. Examples have been provided below. 

Undergraduate Courses

  • Home student tuition fee: £9,535 per year
  • Scholarship value: £9,965 – £11,465 per year

Postgraduate Courses

  • School of Social Sciences and Professions: Home student tuition fee: £5,510 – £11,000. Scholarship value: £3,570 – £10,250
  • School of Art, Architecture and Design: Home student tuition fee: £3,600 – £16,000. Scholarship value: £1,900 – £10,250
  • Guildhall School of Business and Law: Home student tuition fee: £3,600 – £23,500. Scholarship value: £1,900 – £9,000
  • School of Computing and Digital Media: Home student tuition fee: £11,000 – £13,000. Scholarship value: £7,500 – £9,000
  • School of Human Sciences: Home student tuition fee: £9,250 – £11,000. Scholarship value: £6,950 – £10,250
  • School of Built Environment: Home student tuition fee: £13,000. Scholarship value: £7,500

This award is applied for the first year of study and is automatically renewable each academic year for undergraduate students, subject to continued enrolment and international fee status. See below for examples of the potential scholarship value.

Example A: Student A studying BA (Hons) Art and Design (including foundation year), a 4-year undergraduate course starting in September 2026. International fee: £21,000. Home fee: £9535. Yearly scholarship value of £11,465, worth a total of £45,860 across 4 years. 

Example B: Student B studying BA (Hons) Business Management, a 3-year undergraduate course starting in September 2026. International fee: £19,500. Home fee: £9535. Yearly scholarship value of £9965, worth a total of £29,895 across 3 years.

Example C: Student C studying MA Digital Media, a 1-year postgraduate course starting in September 2026. International fee: £20,000. Home fee: £11,000. Yearly scholarship value of £9000

Restrictions and exemptions

  • Only available to new, full-time, international fee-paying students.
  • Applicants must hold full British Citizenship for the Global British Citizens Scholarship (UK passport showing nationality as “British Citizen”).
  • Must have unrestricted right to live, work and remain in the United Kingdom.
  • Not available to holders of other UK nationalities, including but not limited to:
    • British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC)
    • British National (Overseas) (BN(O))
    • British Overseas Citizen (BOC)
    • British Protected Person (BPP)
    • British Subject status
  • Cannot be combined with any other London Met scholarships.
  • Not available for distance learning or partner-delivered courses.
  • Scholarship cannot be deferred; students who defer their offer may lose eligibility.
  • Only available to new students and not to continuing or current students.
  • Can only be applied to full undergraduate and master's programmes. This excludes the International Foundation Programme (IFP), GDL, PG Dip, PG Cert, and LLM courses.
  • Additionally, these courses are also excluded from the scholarship: MSc Social Work, Advanced Diploma in Professional Development in Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Law and Compliance, MA International Security Studies, MSc Youth and Community Work (Advanced Practice), and LLM Legal Practice (SQE1 and 2).

This scholarship is open to students who meet the criteria outlined above. The tuition fee reduction will be applied automatically by our admissions team if you are eligible. You do not need to submit an application for this scholarship.
