Childcare Grant

The Childcare Grant helps with childcare costs for children under 15, or under 17 if they have special educational needs.

You can receive up to 85 per cent of your childcare costs (maximum amount capped at £188.90 per week for one child or £323.85 per week for two or more children for the 2023-24 Academic Year; £193.62 per week for one child or £331.95 per week for two or more children for the 2024-25 Academic Year). Any money you get is paid on top of your student finance and you don't have to pay it back.

Eligibility criteria

  • you must be a full-time UK* student
  • whether you qualify for a grant depends on your household income
  • your child must be under 15, or under 17 if they have special educational needs
  • your childcare provider must be registered
