Adult Dependants' Grant

The Adult Dependants' Grant gives eligible students extra support if they have an adult who depends on them financially. Usually the adult dependant will be a member of your family, including your husband, wife, civil partner or partner. Grown up children can't be counted as adult dependants.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must be a full-time UK* student.
  • The grant is income-assessed. Your dependant's net income must not exceed £3,796.

*Some EU/EEA students starting courses in Jan/Feb 2021 may qualify. Please check out sections (2) and (3) of our information sheet EU/EEA undergraduate funding  for more details.

How to apply

You should indicate on your online funding application to Student Finance England that you have an adult dependant. No separate application is required.
