Intensive Training and Practice (ITAP) is a key element of all Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes and a statutory requirement for trainee teachers. ITAP's strengthens the connection between educational research and classroom practice by providing dedicated opportunities for trainees to develop, practise and refine essential teaching approaches in a structured and supportive environment.
As a mentor you play a central role in the success of ITAP's. Through targeted opportunities to observe expert practice, rehearse specific techniques, receive feedback and reflect on their development, trainees build the confidence and expertise needed to become effective classroom practitioners.
