Sanam Arora

Sanam is the Founder and Chair of the National Indian Students and Alumni Union UK (NISAU), the UK’s apex organisation representing Indian-origin students and alumni. Under her leadership, NISAU played a pivotal role in shaping the policy landscape for international students — most notably contributing to the successful reinstatement of the UK’s Graduate Route visa, now benefiting hundreds of thousands of students and institutions.

She serves as a Commissioner on the UK’s International Higher Education Commission, helping to shape a future-facing international education strategy. She also convenes flagship programmes such as the India UK Education Conference and the Achievers Honours, which bridge diplomacy, education, innovation and are delivered in partnership with the UK Government.

Sanam brings to the Board more than a decade of experience in corporate finance, advising some of the world’s largest investment houses. She has led various regulatory, strategy, and consumer protection initiatives across global financial institutions.

Sanam holds a degree in Operational Research from the London School of Economics, where she was awarded the Union’s highest honour — the Honorary Studentship. In 2023, she was named one of the 50 Most Influential Voices in Global Education, and her contributions have been recognised with the prestigious PIEoneer Award for Outstanding Contribution to the HE Industry.

She joined London Metropolitan University’s Board in May 2025 with a fierce commitment to equity, internationalisation, and student voice. She believes education must not only teach — it must transform, dignify, and liberate.
