David Morrall joined London Metropolitan University’s Board of Governors as an Independent Governor in October 2023. David is the Chair of the Remuneration Committee and serves on the People, Finance and Resources Committee.
Place-based partnerships have been key to the many senior roles David has held across 30 years in central government, working with national, European and regional institutions to deliver multi-billion infrastructure and skills programmes. David now heads up council housebuilding in the Department of Communities and Local Government, as part of the governments’ plans to build 1.5m homes in this Parliament.
For David, “universities have been at the heart of many of the most forward-looking and enduring collaborations I’ve led or been part of, as anchor institutions bringing vision and drive, enabling personal and economic growth. I’m particularly passionate about what London Metropolitan University stands for in these terms - as a standout place where students from diverse backgrounds get to realise their potential and thrive in a complex world”. He is particularly interested in the interplay between technological, economic and climate change and the role of universities in fostering an informed debate across these agendas
