The disAbility Staff Network is a community for colleagues who identify as disabled, have lived experience of disability, long-term health conditions or neurodivergence.
The network recognises that not everyone identifies with a formal diagnosis or has access to one. The community welcomes colleagues to engage in ways that feel meaningful and appropriate to them, while working together to create a more accessible and inclusive university environment.
Our purpose
The disAbility Staff Network aims to:
- create a supportive community for disabled colleagues
- raise awareness of disability inclusion and accessibility
- provide opportunities for discussion, learning and collaboration
- influence positive change across London Met
- work in partnership with the Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) to support an inclusive staff culture
The Committee
The network is supported by Network Leads and a wider committee of colleagues who volunteer their time to shape activity, create opportunities for engagement and support the development of the network.
The committee supports the network by helping to develop events, share ideas, represent member perspectives and create opportunities for colleagues to get involved.
Colleagues are welcome to join the disAbility Staff Network and any other Staff Networks that are meaningful to them.
Our communities recognise intersectionality and the importance of creating spaces where different identities and experiences are valued.
