Following the Prime Minister's announcement yesterday, which set out a road map out of lockdown in England, we have reviewed teaching and support activities at the University. We had already been planning for this announcement, and had consulted widely with relevant staff teams and students about likely scenarios.
- We will be responding to the government's requirement to allow on site face to face teaching for students studying on highly practical subjects to resume on 8 March 2021.
- In line with government guidance, our non-practical subjects will continue to be delivered remotely until further notice.
- It is likely that we will reopen our library services at the same time as the Government opens public libraries, which is currently scheduled for April 12. In the meantime we continue to extend the use of digital resources on reading lists and to invest in the growing and already impressive range of e-resources and digital tools available for students.
In addition, we will be providing additional access to some specialist space on a weekend for students in Art, Architecture and Design. This will need to be booked in advance and priority will be given to final year and postgraduate students. Details about how to book this space will be distributed by your School Office if you are on a highly practical course. If you are unable to attend for onsite face to face teaching you will be able to continue to access teaching materials and support remotely.
The safety of our staff and students will remain our top priority. It is good news that cases are falling rapidly in London, and our safety arrangements on campus are second to none. However, it is also worth noting that in the short term, at least, we will continue to limit the number of staff and students on campus to protect our community.

Our buildings are all currently closed as everyone is encouraged to stay at home and take measures to reduce the transmission of the novel virus. This position will be reviewed in mid-February, or more quickly in there is a change in the lockdown rules or new guidance given by the government. This page will be updated continually when changes are announced.
Teaching and support services: All of your lectures and support services will continue to be delivered remotely. We are fully committed to providing you with the best possible experience, and we are doing everything we can to ensure that you will not be academically disadvantaged in any way by the current situation.
Placements: Teaching and social work placements will continue as planned – please ensure you're following the latest government advice and guidance.
