Rossana Perez-del-Aguila
Rossana Perez-Del-Aguila joined London Metropolitan University in 2010. She is Associate Professor in Education Studies and Course Leader for the Doctorate in Education (EdD). She has taught and supervised students across the Education Subject area (BA Education, MA Education and EdD). Rossana’s academic specialism covers teaching research methods in higher education, research with children and young people and research into the pedagogy of social research methods.
Rossana is member of the Research Ethics Review Panel (RERP) in the School of Social Sciences and Social Professions. She was previously lead of the RERP and Research Lead in the former School of Social Professions. Rossana acts as an internal examiner and independent chair in doctoral examinations. Rossana has been involved in external activities relating to research methods training, doctoral students teaching, and sociology of childhood research. She was part of the European Jean Monnet CiCe Research Student Conferences Committee (2014-2018). She is member of the National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM) network (https://www.ncrm.ac.uk/research/pedagogy/network.php). She is member of the European Sociological Association (ESA), RN4 Sociology of Children and Childhood group, and the International Sociological Association (ISA), RC53 Sociology of Childhood group and member of the Communication Team.
In her early career as a researcher, she was a Research Associate in the School of Social Sciences in Cardiff, Lancaster and Sheffield Universities. She was also a Senior Researcher at the Learning and Skills Network (LSN) where she conducted, managed and delivered research and evaluation to inform policies in Further and Higher Education
Rossana has a PhD in Education, PG Certificate in Sociology, MSc in Social Research Methods and PG Certificate in Academic Practice. She is Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA).
Rossana's research interests are in teaching and learning in higher education, the sociology of childhood, and the development of qualitative research methodologies.
