Ambreen is a senior lecturer in Education at the School of Social Sciences and Professions.
Dr Ambreen Shahriar
Dr. Ambreen Shahriar is currently working as Senior Lecturer Education at London Metropolitan University. She has also worked at Goldsmiths, University of London, Anglia Ruskin University and University of Northampton. She was Associate Professor at University of Sindh, Pakistan.
Ambreen has done MA in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from the University of Leicester and PhD in Educational Studies from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Besides teaching, she is a keen researcher. She has published books, written book chapters and journal articles. She also supervises postgraduate and doctoral dissertations. Her areas of interests include 'struggles for inclusion in education and society' - focussing issues around language, gender, social class, ethnicity, SEN, culture and identity.
Ambreen contributes extensively outside of academia. She is part of ‘Event Support’ Team at British Academy in Working Outside Academia ThinkIn Group. She also volunteers for Greener and Cleaner, an organisation working for educating local communities on environment in London. She supports Great Osmond Street Hospital Charity. She publishes a bilingual children's magazine on Pakistan, which is then gifted to children in far off village schools around the province of Sindh. She is engaged in different training and development projects in schools in Pakistan.
