Celebrity DJ Neil ‘Dr’ Fox is supporting a new photography exhibition at London Metropolitan University.
The ‘London’s Picture of Sustainability’ competition, run by the global sustainability organisation Caydoo, opens on Wednesday 8 August at The Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design.
The competition, which encourages people to consider the meaning of sustainable living, challenged photographers with capturing examples of sustainability in the capital.
The top 50 entrees, which include iconic London architecture, allotments, parklands and wildlife, will be on show at The Cass Gallery until 24 August 2012.
Magic FM’s Neil Fox will launch the competition with an online poll to enable the public to vote for their favourite image. The DJ is also a member of the judges panel, along with The Guardian’s Jo Confino, John Elkington, Canopy & Stars’ Tom Dixon, Freegle co-founder Cat Fletcher and Mick Williamson, Senior Lecturer in Photography at The Cass.
There will be two overall winners – one chosen by the judges, the other through the public vote.
Prizes include luxury UK ‘glamping’ holidays, courtesy of Sawday’s Canopy & Stars and a year of exclusive sustainable getaways, showcasing beautiful UK holiday destinations in spring, summer and autumn.
The competition is one of London Pop Spot Festival’s featured events, and the exhibition is sandwiched between live music and short sustainability films running throughout August, bringing together pop-ups from across the city.
The Festival will give everyone a chance to experience London’s creativity, spontaneity and vibrancy and bring the pop-up scene a new, diverse audience at a time when the city will have more visitors than ever.
