How we drive change

The Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) produces data, insights and reports to support evidence-informed action across the University. Our work brings together institutional data, student voice and sector benchmarks to identify inequalities, understand trends and inform targeted interventions.

Our reports are designed to be accessible, timely, and actionable – supporting Schools and Professional Services to respond to key priorities, including Access and Participation Plan (APP) commitments, TEF metrics, and wider equality, diversity and inclusion goals.

Fostering a culture of evaluation at London Met to inspire positive change

Our team continues to foster an evaluative mindset which is key to supporting evidence-based practice and drive decision-making. The Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEI) acts as a hub to provide guidance and advice on monitoring and evaluation practice with the overall aim of building staff and student capacity to engage with evaluation work.

We are committed to co-producing high-quality evaluations to strengthen and enhance our existing evidence base and deepen our understanding of the impact of our work, enabling us to continually improve outcomes and experiences for our diverse student and staff community.

Why it matters

Evaluation is the systematic process of assessing an activity, programme, or intervention to understand how effectively it is working and whether it is achieving its intended outcomes.

Insights and evaluation support our understanding on how students experience university life, how academic programs perform, and how support services meet evolving needs. By collecting data and analysing feedback, we ensure that our decisions are evidence informed, inclusive and impactful.

Evaluation further helps us to identify which approaches are most effective in reducing barriers for students – from application and enrolment through to academic success and progression into employment or further study.
