Summer Startup

When starting a business, it can sometimes be hard to know how to take the first step, or to know if you’re ‘doing the right thing’. This is why we created Summer Startup.

Summer Startup is London Met’s flagship enterprise programme that provides early stage entrepreneurs and freelancers with the knowledge, tools, and support to test ideas and turn them into viable ventures.

Delivered across 8 weekly sessions, the programme covers all the key startup topics such as idea testing, validation and viability, branding and marketing, customer discovery and acquisition, plus pitching and the fundamentals of finance and law.

About Summer Startup

This year Summer Startup will run weekly on Wednesdays from 25 June to 13 August, between 10.30am until (around) 4pm.

In the first session, you'll be introduced to the Summer Startup programme to give you a clear overview of what to expect over the next 8 weeks, members of the Enterprise team, and the rest of the cohort of students and graduates taking part. We’ll then be diving straight into what makes a strong business idea and how to identify great business opportunities.

In the following weeks of Summer Startup, we'll cover key topics like idea testing and validation, customer acquisition, branding, marketing, pitching, finance, and law.

You'll be supported throughout the programme by London Met’s Enterprise team, expert mentors, and guest speakers to help make your startup journey clearer and less daunting. The programme will conclude with a Pitch Day so you can showcase your business, all the progress you've made and outline your plans for launch.

Commitment

Summer Startup is a programme for motivated and passionate individuals and teams, as participants will (we hope) spend a significant amount of time applying the learnings from the face-to-face sessions, rapidly developing and refining their idea outside the weekly sessions.
