London Met’s commitment to education for social justice has deep roots and ongoing impact. The Centre for Professional and Educational Development (CPED), now known as the Centre for Teaching Enhancement (CTE), has inspired research-informed practice and policy in higher education learning and teaching within and far beyond London Met.
By enhancing understandings of approaches such as widening participation pedagogy and students-as-partners, London Met researchers Sandra Abegglen, Tom Burns, Dave Griffiths, Kathy Harrington, Sandra Sinfield and Digby Warren contributed to the promotion of social justice and cultural change in higher education.
CPED’s evidence-based and student-focused approach to study guides, frameworks and academic publications benefitted students, teaching and support staff, and institutional policy makers in higher education abroad and in the UK.
