Marva de la Coudray

Marva de la Coudray has over twenty years’ experience working across teaching excellence, student success and equity in UK universities.

She is Director of the Centre for Teaching Enhancement of the Centre of Equity and Inclusion at London Metropolitan University and a member of the University’s Senior Leadership Team. In this role she leads institutional work to strengthen teaching and learning, student success and inclusive practice across the University. Her remit includes oversight of teaching enhancement, academic practice, digital education, student surveys (including the NSS), equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), the University’s Access and Participation Plan (APP), and the Education for Social Justice Framework (ESJF), which supports inclusive curriculum design, assessment and teaching practices that improve outcomes for London Met’s diverse student body.

As the first in her family to attend university, Marva draws on both personal experience and extensive professional expertise working with academic teams to champion approaches to learning and teaching that support the success of students from the Global Majority.

Across her career she has led significant institutional initiatives to improve student outcomes and equity in higher education, including leading the University's TEF submission which achieved Silver (2023) with Gold for Student Experience, leading sector-recognised work to reduce degree awarding gaps and differential outcomes, and working with universities and partners nationally and internationally to advance inclusive approaches to teaching, learning and student success.

Prior to joining London Metropolitan University, she held a number of senior roles at SOAS University of London.
