Walaa Abu-Taleb

Walaa is Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and the Lead of admissions and recruitment at the School of Human Sciences.

Walaa Abu-Taleb is a dedicated and passionate senior lecturer in physiotherapy, currently leading the BSc (hons) physiotherapy course and contributing to the academic team of the school of human sciences at London Metropolitan University. With an abundant of experience spanning over two decades, her journey in the field of physical therapy has been distinguished by a sincere commitment to education, research, and professional development.

Walaa is also a registered physiotherapist at the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the UK specialised in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation. She is also a chartered Society of Physiotherapy member. Her academic journey started with a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy where she laid the foundation of her career. She then pursued Masters and PhD degrees in physiotherapy which inspired her dedication to enhancing healthcare through practice, research and education.

She worked both clinically and academically in various governmental and private institutions providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation for the Musculoskeletal, neurological, paediatric and women’s health conditions. which enhanced her knowledge, and skills. Walaa has a teaching experience for several years abroad and in the UK and she is Fellow of Higher Education UK (FHEA). She provided a number of workshops in physiotherapy assessment and treatment techniques.
Walaa is the module lead of Physiotherapy Theory and Practice as well as Evidence based Practice 1. She is also teaching in other modules as part of the larger physiotherapy team.
 
Walaa is also the lead of the students admissions and recruitment by crafting recruitment strategies, managing applications, analysing recruitment data and attracting qualified students.
Walaa's previous research focused on the exploration of methodologies to address the musculoskeletal disorders with particular interest to the cervical spine. She is now focusing her attention on her PhD studies.
 
Walaa is also interested in research on Neuromusculoskeletal Conditions, the inter-relationship of various body systems on patient's improvement, and investigating the validity and reliability of the common techniques used in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.
