London Metropolitan University has been shortlisted in three categories at the Academic Employability Awards 2026, including the prestigious University of the Year, recognising its continued commitment to embedding employability within the curriculum.
Led by the Graduate Futures Institute, the awards celebrate excellence in how universities prepare students for the world of work through their academic programmes.
London Met has been shortlisted in the following categories:
- Authentic Assessment for Employability
- Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
- University of the Year
These nominations highlight the University’s innovative approach to equipping students with the skills, confidence and real-world experience needed to succeed after graduation.
The Academic Employability Awards recognise initiatives that integrate employability directly into teaching, assessment and curriculum design, reflecting a sector-wide shift towards embedding career readiness throughout the student experience.
Alexandra Banks, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Success), said: “Being shortlisted is a fantastic recognition of the work our colleagues are doing to ensure our students are not only academically successful but fully prepared for their future careers.”
This recognition further underlines the impact of London Met’s student-centred approach to curriculum design and its commitment to improving graduate outcomes.
Nona McDuff OBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost, said: “Being shortlisted for the Academic Employability Awards recognises our commitment to ensuring every London Met student leaves ready to succeed in their chosen career. At London Met, employability is built in, not bolted on, with students practising being professionals from day one.
Our courses are global, flexible and future-focused, designed to support our diverse and international student community. We equip students with the skills, confidence and real-world experience they need to thrive, and continue to support them for up to three years after graduation as they take their next steps and make a positive impact in London and beyond.”
Winners of the Academic Employability Awards 2026 will be announced on Thursday 30 April 2026 at the Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies in London.
