Dr Nanyam is Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying and Course Leader for BSc and MSc in Quantity Surveying.
Dr Nihar holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). In addition, he has obtained a Masters in Construction Technology and Management from IIT, as part of the Build India Scholarship by Andhra University.
Dr Nihar is currently working as Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying at our School of the Built Environment. He previously worked as Associate Director of Programmes for MBA in Construction Project Management and Quantity Surveying at Amity University's School of the Built Environment in India.
His career within the field began as a senior engineer and later progressed into a cost manager, where he would lead on managing cost deliverables of high-rise construction projects. Major responsibilities included valuation of the executed work, estimation of cost using Job Cost Report analysis, review of reconciliation of client versus sub-contractor billing, preparation of estimates for budget, mid-term and job review of the project, cost budgeting, project controls, contract administration and claims management.
Dr Nihar has taught courses pertaining to quantity surveying & construction project management, such as construction economics, construction cost management, design economics, cost planning, project controls, financial reporting, cost estimation, budgeting, billing, sub-contractor management and construction measurements.
Quality presentation skills, good pedagogic practice and innovative thinking have resulted in positive student feedback.
Dr Nihar has undertaken training in quantity surveying software such as CostX, and Candy.
Dr Nihar has published over 20 high-quality, peer-reviewed papers.
He has worked with the Building Materials Technology Promotion Council (BMTPC), an external organization under the Government of India, to produce four research projects on emerging housing technologies, valued at of 2.6 million Indian rupees. The output generated from the research carried has since been published by the Government of India, as a guideline for evaluating emerging technologies in construction.
