Translation students hear from the expert

BA Translation students had the chance to hear from an industry expert and gain an insight into working in translation.

Date: 19 January 2017

Ksenia Ivanova, the production manager of Codex Global, visited the Guildhall School of Business and Law on Wednesday 11 January to give a talk to BA Translation students.

Maite Gonzalez, BA Translation and MA Translation Placement Coordinator, said: “The main benefit of this talk was to raise students’ awareness of the importance of developing soft skills such as communication and team building, as well as other vocational skills which are sought after by employers.”

Some London Met students have completed work experience with the company, the benefits of which include employment with Codex Global and the acquirement of professional translation work.

Maite, who also organises the work experience placement module for BA and MA Translation students, added: “The ultimate benefit of these talks is that students are able establish links with the industry and make a smooth transition into working life.”

Codex Global is a translation service provider, which has a London-based office, as well as offices across Europe and in the Middle East. It offers professional and personal translation services, such as editing and proofreading. It also provides voiceovers and subtitles for films, as well as multilingual brand management for businesses.
