Overview

This exciting and demanding course has the challenge of telling stories for the screen at its heart. Students are involved in practical production work throughout the course and consider the aesthetic, economic, moral, ethical and legal dimensions of commercial cultural production. This course is ideal for students who want to learn specialist film production skills supported by a flexible education in broader media practice, and places a strong emphasis on the media industries. It is taught by practising filmmakers and theorists, supported by guest speakers and students are encouraged to undertake work placement as a part of their study. As the course has developed we have placed an increasing emphasis on public exhibition and festival submission as this gives students opportunities to produce increasingly sophisticated work. This, along with innovations such as the CASS Cinema Academy, creates a rich and vibrant atmosphere in which students develop as practitioners.
