Teaching Staff Mobility
Erasmus Staff Mobility
Complementing the student mobility grant scheme, the staff mobility programme offers financial support to encourage the exchange of university staff between partner institutions for periods of teaching or training. The scheme operates with the support of the Commission of the European Communities within the framework of the LLP Erasmus Programme.
In the academic year 2011/12, London Met staff taking part in an exchange can receive a travel grant of up to €500. Additional subsistence funds are also available, based on a daily maximum rate which varies according to the country visited. Payments are made based on actual receipted expenditure. The grant is intended to subsidise mobility and may not cover 100% of the costs of a visit.
Eligibility
The recommended minimum duration for teaching assignments is five days, and may not exceed a maximum of 6 weeks. There is an obligation to deliver at least 5 hours of teaching.
Please be aware that funding is limited. Priority will be given to teachers who are going on an Erasmus teaching staff exchange for the first time.
Teaching at the partner university
The courses taught should be an integral part of the study programme at the host university and can involve lectures, seminars, workshops, field trips etc.
Teaching mobility should also be seen as an opportunity to:
-
Collect additional information about the academic programme at the partner institution
-
Explore the possibility of joint course development activities, in open and distant learning mode
-
Visit London Metropolitan University students on Erasmus placement in the host institution
-
Consolidate the institutional link e.g. by promoting London Metropolitan courses at the partner institutions and by collecting information on the partner institution to promote the host university amongst students at London Metropolitan University
-
Help us plan future teaching and student mobility with the partner institution
Application
The distribution of staff mobility grants is managed by the International Programmes Office. If you are interested in applying, please email Susan Wharton, the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator (s.wharton@londonmet.ac.uk or erasmus@londonmet.ac.uk) and we will email you the application form and supporting information.
The 'Teaching Programme' is a key component of the application form and must be endorsed by both London Metropolitan University and the receiving institution. The Teaching Programme should outline objectives and added value of the mobility, content of the teaching programme and expected results.
