Study Programme
Summary List of Modules (work in progress - no completion date available)
(Interim lists can be found further down this page)
Please note: you may only choose modules from the Summary List of Modules or the Interim lists - no other class choices will be valid unless you are requesting science classes. Please read the instructions carefully!
From September 2012 most of the undergraduate modules at LondonMet will be changing to a year-long format. This means that the modules will begin in September and run all the way through the year, ending in May, to be followed by examinations. This is especially true of first year modules so there will be little or no provision for semester students to take first year classes (400 level).
Some faculties will be offering semester-long modules in the second (500 level) and third (600 level) year as well as the opportunity to take half of some year-long modules and receive half the credits for it (if passed). If the possibility does exist to take half of a year-long module then you must check in which semester it will be offered (autumn, spring or both) and whether the syllabus being taught in the semester you attend will be relevant to you.
Assessment during the autumn semester will typically be by coursework and during the spring semester will normally be by examination. The autumn semester will finish at the end of January so any topics taught up to this time may be included in the assessment.
John Cass Art and Design faculty will not be offering any semester modules at all so if you wish to take any modules from this department you will have to stay for the whole year.
The Summary List of Modules lists all the classes scheduled to run in the coming semester which may be taken by Erasmus students. This will allow easier selection of modules than using the entire online catalogue.
You will need to take 60 LondonMet credits (30 ECTS) per semester or 120 LondonMet credits (60 ECTS) per year. For students staying for a year this may be made up of single-semester modules (15 credits), half of year-long modules (15 credits) or year-long modules (30 credits). Therefore, students intending to stay for only a semester need to check that the possibility exists for them to take four classes comprising single-semester modules or half of year-long modules.
N.B. Only validated halves of year-long modules will be available to single semester students. You cannot attend a year-long module for only a semester and receive the credits for it unless it has been validated for early exit / late entry. 30 credit modules offering the option to leave / arrive halfway through will be indicated by the letters A or S at the end of the module code, meaning Autumn or Spring.
You will need to take 4 modules per semester, which is the equivalent of 30 ECTS. Your module choices should be from the department which has an Erasmus link with your home university.
Interim lists of modules
As module lists become available they will be added here. Once all modules are confirmed for 2012-13 a Summary List will be compiled.
Business School Level 5 modules autumn semester (15 credits)
Business School Level 6 modules autumn semester (15 credits)
Full list of Business School modules 2012-13
Interim List All Faculties 2012-13 (90% complete. Modules will be added once confirmed)
Which level of module should you choose?
There are three different ‘module levels’:
- C - Certificate level - first year modules (400 codes)
- I - Intermediate level - second year modules (500 codes)
- H - Higher level - third year modules (600 codes)
As an ERASMUS student you can choose modules at any of these levels, as long as your home university approves the choice, and you have already covered the material taught in any ‘prerequisite’ modules listed.
Which modules are not available?
Modules with codes in this format ***X** and ***F** are pre-undergraduate and not available on this programme (e.g. AC1X03). Similarly, postgraduate modules are not available to undergraduates.
Below are classes which are based around placements or are part of an accredited degree and are therefore not open to Erasmus students:
Social Work (SW)
Architecture (AD)
Civil Aviation (CA)
Early Years Teaching (TE)
Nutrition (NF)
Sports Therapy (SP)
How to use the Module Catalogue
When you have found the module you would like to study, input and click on the module code on the online catalogue. Once opened, the following module information will be outlined:
- Teaching location: It is generally easier to choose modules at the same campus
- Teaching term: Make sure the module is taught during the semester for which you are applying
- Timeslot: Make sure you do not have two or more modules running at the same time
- Module summary: Check that the material to be covered is interesting/appropriate to you, and find information about methods of assessment
Please note that not all of the modules listed will be available and your Intended Study Programme is subject to change. It is important to have approved alternatives in case of schedule changes.
Completing the Programme of Study form
When completing the Study Programme form, please ensure that all sections are filled in as far as possible with the information the university has provided: module code, module title, campus (North or City), day and timeslot (am, pm or pm+). If all these items are not available then please keep the study form with you until they become available.
