Dr Marc Jacobs

Dr Marc Jacobs is a senior lecturer in mathematics education and PGCE Secondary mathematics course leader at the School of Social Sciences and Professions.

Dr Marc Jacobs is the Lead for the Secondary Mathematics PGCE course. He holds a Doctor of Education in Philosophy from St Mary's University, Twickenham; and an MA in Innovation and Change from St Mary's University, Twickenham, London. A Btec (Hons.) from Cape Tech, Cape Town, South Africa, A further Diploma in Education (Mathematics) from the University of Cape Town (UCT) and a Senior Diploma in Education with specialism in Mathematics and History from Bellville College of Education, in Cape Town, South Africa. He worked at the University of Reading where he taught on the BA ED Primary (maths specialism), PGCE secondary mathematics and the Assessment Only He has over 25 years of teaching experience in secondary mathematics in the UK and South Africa. He has led various curriculum areas in universities across the UK.

Dr Marc Jacobs has led the following courses at the university of Reading: Secondary PGCE mathematics curriculum; led the Assessment Only (AO) QTS route and module leader for the Primary Education BA (mathematics specialism). He also supervised Masters and PhD and Ed D students. He also led on BAME initiatives at the university of Reading for the Institute of education and focused on Social Justice in Education.
