Jennifer Hayes

Jennifer Hayes is a Teaching and Learning Development Manager dedicated to improving outcomes and student experience through developing inclusive pedagogies. Jen manages and contributes to nurturing academic innovation and effective practice in learning and teaching within the School of Social Science and Professions, School of Human Sciences and Collaborative Partnerships specifically, and leads a range of workstreams and initiatives designed to improve teaching and learning practice and to enhance student experience and outcomes across London Met. 

Jen began her career as a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy and developed her love for Teaching and Learning whilst training international teams in engineering, firefighting and damage control at sea. Moving into education, Jen has had a varied career. After working as a secondary school science teacher in the UK and Gibraltar, Jen went back to her roots in engineering developing and delivering degree apprenticeships. More recently Jen has worked as Director Adult and Higher Education at a Further Education College in the North West, championing non-traditional routes into HE. 

Committed to her own lifelong learning, Jen is currently working towards a PhD in Education and Social Justice.
