Overview

This powerful combination of International Business and Finance will provide you with a range of challenging and financially-rewarding career options. The International Business and Finance course equips you with a detailed knowledge of key financial concepts and theories within the context of the operations of international business in the global economy. Our close links with Bloomberg and other financial institutions have enabled us to set up a simulated trading room, giving you direct experience of how a typical dealing room operates. You will acquire a range of skills from leading-edge international business and finance subjects which will enhance your future employability.

Course contents

Three levels, each of 120 credits

Level 1 topics include:

  • Global Business Environment
  • Global Challenges for Business, Management and Leadership
  • Quantitative Methods for Banking and Finance
  • Introduction to Accounting and Finance

Level 2 topics include:

  • International Business and the Global Environment
  • Business Decision-Making
  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Market Analysis

Level 3 topics include:

  • International Business Strategy and the Global Economy
  • Econometrics and Business Forecasting
  • International Finance

Assessment

You are assessed via coursework assignments, presentations, exams, individual and group research projects and a final dissertation.

Careers

Graduates will be well placed for a broad range of International Business and Finance-related careers in City-based firms and other companies. Some students choose to progress to further study. The University offers a range of International Business and Finance courses at Masters level, as well as various professional courses accredited by industry bodies.

Entry requirements

In addition to the University's standard entry requirements, you should have 240 or more UCAS points, including at least 180 from two or more A levels (or equivalent, eg BTEC National, OCR Diploma or Advanced Diploma) in academic or Business subjects. English Language and Mathematics GCSE at grade C or above (or equivalent) are also required. These requirements may be varied in individual cases.

Accelerated study

It may be possible to enter the course at levels 2/3 if you have a relevant Foundation Degree, HND or equivalent.
