Overview

Endorsed by the England Standards Board for community development work, this degree is for people interested in working with the diverse and vibrant communities around us. Intending students will have a desire to work with people in ways which will help make a difference to lives. Community development is about people working together for social justice. It is a long established way of working but recent social policy has put it firmly on the agenda. Ideas about social inclusion, participation, voluntary action and empowerment have led to new partnerships between the voluntary and community sector, local government, housing, the NHS, education and business. This degree is an innovative response to these developments in this large and growing sector of employment. We have links with many agencies and employers offering research and work experience opportunities.
