Here at London Metropolitan University we have a skilled team including ex-practitioners delivering a range of high quality biomedical science courses (at BSc and MSc level). Our biomedical science team also have an active research group covering areas such as immunology, haematology, microbiology and biochemistry. We aim to produce highly quaified biomedical science graduates who have both interdisciplinary subject-specific technical skills, and transferable core skills. Biomedical science develops your understanding of the pathophysiology and monitoring of human disease.
As a biomedical scientist you would have a well-defined career pathway in the health service industry. To qualify for work as a registered biomedical scientist in the National Health Service (NHS), as well as your honours degree you need to complete the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Certificate of Competence for eligibility for Health Professions Council (HPC) registration. To comply with this, you need to undertake accredited laboratory work experience either after graduation or during a sandwich placement year whilst studying with us.
Your degree in biomedical science with us is the portal to a wide range of careers including opportunities within the health care professions, in scientific research and development, medical and technical sales, technical support teaching and scientific writing.
