Prof. Laurence Harbige at 15th Congress of the Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids

2 – 5 July 2023

Prof. Laurence Harbige was part of the organising committee for the 15th Congress of the Society for the Study of Fatty Acids and Lipids (ISSFAL) that took place in Nantes, France. The biennial event, which serves as a melting pot of lipid-related research, provided a unique platform for Prof. Harbige to share insights into the critical role of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids in the metabolism, inflammation, and pathogenesis of Type 2 diabetes.

The ISSFAL Congress, known for its commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, drew seasoned and emerging researchers, physicians, and nutritionists from around the globe. The comprehensive program delved into the Biochemistry and Metabolism of Fatty Acids, Lipids in Health and Disease, and Lipids in Nutrition, offering a multifaceted exploration of lipids' role in understanding human physiology and pathophysiology.

Beyond the illuminating presentations, ISSFAL Congress traditionally encourages collaboration and networking. With over 300 abstract submissions, the event facilitated a rich exchange of ideas and findings. Participants seized opportunities to connect during plenary lectures, oral presentations, and engaging poster sessions.
