Centre for Contemporary Aristotelian Studies in Ethics and Politics
Aristotelianism is characterised by a teleological conception of the human good and human capabilities, by an ethics of the virtues, and by a politics of the common good. The Centre for Contemporary Aristotelian Studies in Ethics & Politics (CASEP) aims to promote research informed by, and into, such Aristotelian principles.
Religion, Civil Religion, and the Common Good conference:
CASEP is holding a conference on Religion, Civil Religion, and the Common Good at London Met on 20-21 June 2012, in collaboration with the Centre for the Study of Religion, Conflict and Cooperation. CASEP speakers include Prof. Ronald Beiner, Prof. Timothy Chappell, Dr. Patrick Riordan, and Lord Maurice Glasman. For further details, please see the call for papers.
Conferences at Nottingham:
CASEP is co-hosting two conferences at the Univerity of Nottingham in July 2012, with the Centre for the Study of Social and Global Justice. The second annual conference of the Contemporary Aristotelian Studies specialist group of the UK Political Studies Association (the inaugural conference of which was at London Met in 2011) will be on Wednesday 18th July. The sixth annual conference of the International Society for MacIntyrean Enquiry (the inaugural conference of which was at London Met in 2007) will be from 19th to 21st July.
