Welcome to the Department of Law, Governance and International Relations (LGIR). As the largest department of its kind in the UK, we can offer you a wide range of courses in Law, Politics and International Relations at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We have a commitment to excellence in teaching and we will both challenge you to do your best and support you to ensure that you succeed. We believe that education can transform lives and open new doors and possibilities, so follow the links to see our exciting portfolio of courses.
Our academic staff include many scholars who are recognised for their high quality research as well as their expertise in teaching. Each member of the department has a web-page where you can read about their teaching and research interests and see a selection of their published work and other research activities. Those of you interested in studying for a PhD will find a potential supervisor for your work.
As well as excellent courses and staff, the Department benefits from being in some of London’s liveliest locations. To one side of the City campus is the Capital’s financial district with its fantastic modern and traditional architecture, but to the other you find the trendy quarters around Spitalfields and Brick Lane. The North campus is based at Ladbroke House in lively Islington, with its many shops, restaurants and cafes and the Arsenal football club.
I hope you enjoy looking around our Department and that you decide to apply for one of our programmes. Please don’t hesitate to use the e-mail addresses provided if you would like to ask us any questions.
