Social programmes
We realise that students coming to London will also want to enjoy their free time and meet people, as well as study the language and improve their academic skills. We offer a varied programme of afternoon and evening events for people to get to know each other and practise their conversation skills in a safe environment. Events are organised by members of staff, who also accompany students on some of the activities to act as a guide. Other trips are more designed for students to socialise informally without any teachers present.
Recent activities include:
- Museums and Galleries: The Geffrye Museum, The Tate Modern
- Walking Tours: Hampstead, Camden, along the Canal
- Social Events: Old English Pubs, traditional sports day
- Places of Interest: Borough Market, The Neasden Mandir
Students are kept up-to-date by postings on the course intranet and a noticeboard, which also shows details of weekend events in London, and tours around the UK and North Europe. The tours can be booked through the University, and offer competitive prices for students. The London events consist of festivals, carnivals and special days which are open to all residents of the city.
Members of staff are also more than happy to give advice, suggestions and guidance about places to eat and drink, entertainment venues and interesting things to see and do both in London and around the country.
