Funding your studies

Adult Dependants' Grant

The Adult Dependants' Grant gives eligible students extra support if they have an adult who depends on them financially. Usually the adult dependant will be a member of your family, including your husband, wife, civil partner or partner. Grown up children can't be counted as adult dependants.

Eligibility criteria

  • You must be a full-time UK student.
  • The grant is income-assessed. Your dependant's net income must not exceed £3,796.

Restrictions and exemptions

See eligibility criteria above.

How to apply

You should indicate on your online funding application to Student Finance England that you have an adult dependant. No separate application is required. If you're a full-time student applying online you might like to download our Full-time funding application guidance notes.
