Choosing a course and university may seem like a daunting prospect but there are events and activities you can attend  to ensure you find out all the information you need before you apply.

HE Fairs

These events give you the chance to speak to representatives from many different universities who can help you to make an infomed decision about what and where to study. Open days

At an open day you'll be able to visit the university and speak directly to academic staff about the course(s) you're interested in. It's an excellent opportunity to explore the university facilities and meet current students who can share their experience with you. If you're thinking of applying to a university, take the time to attend an open day and make sure you get a feel for what life would be like as a student there.

Taster courses

A chance to try out a course before you apply, taster days are held at universities and offer the opportunity to experience life as a student on a particular course. The content of taster courses can vary but generally you'll attend sample lectures,  and seminars and perhaps even try out some of the university facilities such as labs and design studios. The idea is that you'll come away from the day with a better insight into how a subject is taught at university.
