London Met holds jobs and volunteering fair for students

London Metropolitan University’s Summer Job and Volunteering Fair to be held for the first time in the newly refurbished Great Hall.

Date: 30 April 2015

Are you hunting for a job? Do you need permanent or part-time work, or do you just want a bit of extra cash for the summer? Perhaps you’re looking forward to one last summer break before starting a full-time job in September. Whatever work you’re looking for, come to meet your potential employers at the Summer Jobs and Volunteering Fair on Wednesday 6 May in the Great Hall, Holloway Campus.

The newly refurbished Great Hall was officially opened this week, and its grand decor should provide extra inspiration for the job search. The fair will be attended by exhibitors from a range of industries including Arc Hospitality Recruitment, AYS (At Your Service), Centre 404, Cerca London, Delaware North, Geeks Ltd, Hyphen Next Generation, ICS, IDEX, Imtech Engineering London and South, Johnson Recruitment Ltd, LOLA Staffing, London Marathon, New Chapter, Outward, Periscopix, Showforce Services, Silicon Valley Bank, Totally Communications, Tradewind Recruitment and Your World Healthcare.

If you’re in your first or second year, it might be time for you to start building up your experience either through a paid job or volunteering. For final year students, this is your chance to meet some graduate employers and start the ball rolling. Take advantage of this opportunity and come and explore what’s on offer. You never know, you might find exactly the job you’ve been looking for or get to make valuable contacts.

Most importantly, don’t forget to get your CV checked by the Careers and Employability team before, and bring it along on the day!

Neelam Thapar, Head of Careers and Employability said: “We are delighted to be offering students opportunities to earn money and develop skills through jobs and volunteering. Our exhibitors are really keen to meet London Met students.”

The Summer Jobs and Volunteering Fair is on Wednesday 6 May from 12.00pm to 3.00pm in the Great Hall (Rocket Complex), London Met.
