London Metropolitan University has received its highest ever student satisfaction rating, with one course being given maximum marks from students.

BA International Relations and Politics scored 100% in the student satisfaction category of this year’s National Student Survey.

The top score ranks the course, based in the Faculty of Law, Governance and International Relations (LGIR), as among the best in the country.

Professor Bob McKeever, Dean of LGIR, said: “We are, of course, delighted that so many of our students have declared themselves satisfied with our courses. For 100% of our students on the International Relations & Politics degree to declare themselves satisfied with the overall quality of the course means that we truly fulfil our promise to give students an affordable, quality education.

“This score is proof that we work closely with our students and do everything we can to ensure they succeed. It also shows that we have a talented and dedicated group of lecturers that students enjoy studying with.”

London Met's BA (Hons) Journalism course also received outstanding results, returning a 90% satisfaction rating from students. This comes following the University's investment in a purpose-built journalism Newsroom at Holloway Road.

This year’s survey results are the best ever for London Met, with overall student satisfaction at 76%, up 3% on last year and nearly 10% on 2010. The success reflects the great strides forward that have been made recently to provide the best educational experience for London Met students.

Employability has now been established at the heart of the curriculum, with employment training built in to courses and closer ties being forged with industry. There has also been extensive investment in student facilities including improved library resources, new social spaces and additional bespoke teaching infrastructure.

Professor Malcolm Gillies, Vice-Chancellor of London Met, said: “This year’s NSS result is a further validation of the University’s steps to place the student at the very heart of the institution.

“I congratulate those areas that have demonstrated great improvements, and recommend that we all recommit to these areas, such as assessment and feedback, where all Higher Education institutions can realise further gains.”
