Plastic Properties and Material Selection
27th - 30th June 2011
Description
4 day short course for those who wish to extend their knowledge and understanding of plastics materials and what they offer in terms of mechanical and physical properties, as filled and unfilled systems, in relation to other materials.
Detailed Description
This 4 day short course is designed to satisfy the needs of graduates in science, engineering and technology, and others of a similar background working in product design and in research and development areas, who wish to extend their knowledge and understanding of plastics materials and what they offer in terms of mechanical and physical properties, as filled and unfilled systems, in relation to other materials. The course covers a wide range of topics to assist product designers to make an informed decision in selecting polymer materials for their products.
This short course can be taken as part of an MSc in Manufacture and Design for Polymer Products.
Pre-requisites:
There are no pre-requesites for this course. No prior knowledge or experience is assumed for either the theoretical or practical elements.
Bookings:
There is a fee of £875.00 for this course.
Course Materials:
The course fees include a folder containing lecture notes and other appropriate material. This will be distributed on the first day of the course. The notes are for participants only and are not for sale.
Module leader and Lead Lecturers: Shah Hashemi, BSc, MSc, PhD Shah is currently Professor of Polymers at London Metropolitan Polymer Centre. He has a background in composite materials and fracture mechanics. Shah has been lecturing in the field of polymers for 17 years. Mathew Philip, PhD Mathew is currently an academic leader at the London Metropolitan Polymer Centre.
