Computer Aided Rheology
31st October – 3rd November 2011
Description
4 day short course for those who wish to gain better understanding of the flow characteristics of polymer melts and its influence on processing.
Detailed Description
This 4 day short course is designed to satisfy the needs of graduates in science, engineering and technology, and others of a similar background working in product design and in research and development areas, who wish to gain better understanding of the flow characteristics of polymer melts and its influence on processing. Although delivery of the course is largely by means of formal lectures accompanied with clarifying examples, laboratory sessions are included to give participants a better understanding of flow characteristics of polymer melts as well as gaining some practical experience in making rheological measurements and the confidence in handling and interpretating rheological data. Participants also get the opportunity of working with commercial computer flow simulation software (MoldFlow).
This short course can be taken as part of an MSc Manufacture and Design for Polymer Products.
NB assessed post course assignment work can be undertaken by candidates who wish to extend the learning process The course is suitable for anybody wishing to learn about the injection moulding process, injection mould design, injection moulded polymer product design and related subjects.
This course awards a London Metropolitan Polymer Centre certificate of participation to each attendee. This course is recognised as an IoM3 accredited professional development activity.
Bookings:
There is a fee of £875.00 for this course.
Course Materials:
The course fees include a folder containing lecture notes and other appropriate material. This will be distributed on the first day of the course.
Course credits:
This course contributes towards CATS points, for more information on those courses contributing as MSc credits then see our Manufacture and Design for Polymer Products Distance Learning page.
