Collaborating Institutes

The University is committed to an expansion in student numbers and to an extension and enhancement of its provision by working in partnership and collaboration with educational institutions and other organisations both in the London region and internationally. This is an important means for the University to achieve its own strategic objectives by contributing to national aims both in widening provision and participation in higher education in the UK and in catering for the demand for higher education globally. In order to realise these objectives, the University has developed models of partnership and collaboration designed to ensure that its development and delivery of collaborative provision and partnerships is coherent and consistent.

Collaborative provision refers to courses which lead to degrees, diplomas and other academic awards of the University, but which may be designed and delivered, wholly or in part, by the partner organisation. Partners are most often other institutions of further and higher education, whether in the UK or throughout the world, but may be other kinds of public sector, private or voluntary organisation where this is appropriate to the form of education and training in question.

The University''s approach to partnership and collaborative provision aims to:

  • offer structured access and progression routes to HE and widen participation in HE within the London region
  • extend opportunities for vocational HE within the London region
  • work in partnership internationally to cater for the increased demand globally for higher education
  • make internationally-oriented higher education available to both UK and overseas students.

We at the London Metropolitan Polymer Centre are involved in such a partnership with Lea Artibai Ikastexa, Bilbao. Through this partnership we are able to offer collaborative degree courses and undertake joint research projects.
