MA International Relations and Globalisation

This course focuses on the theme of globalisation as it is constructed and critiqued in the international relations discipline. It first provides a core module that undertakes a sustained examination of the historical and intellectual development of international relations as a body of theory and research. It then offers students a range of more focused modules from which to choose. These cover issues ranging from the relationship between globalisation and democratisation, through the examination of the role of religion in international relations, to the analysis of the development of US-European relations in the global system and broader strategic change in the post cold-war world.

Students are also offered an opportunity to develop their research skills and deepen their knowledge of an area of particular interest to them through the completion of a dissertation. Practical support for the development of the necessary research skills is offered in a series of workshops.
