Building up your ICT Skills in Modern Foreign Languages
This short course is designed for anyone who wants to know more about the use and potential of Information & Communication Technologies (ICT) when learning or teaching modern foreign languages. Its aim is to provide specialist knowledge on international features of computers as well as Web-based resources in modern foreign language learning and teaching including English as a Foreign Language.
In particular, it will focus on a critical evaluation of online language learning activities from relevant websites selected for their usefulness, interactive potential and user friendliness. The session will be based on a presentation supported by illustrations and demonstrations followed by practical exercises and a discussion.

Dominique Hemard Dominique’s areas of teaching expertise include Information and Communication Technologies for languages, French Politics, French cinema and the media in France.
This one-day short course offers learners of German the opportunity to practise their spoken German and improve their comprehension skills in a relaxed environment. Participants will have the opportunity to communicate in German about a variety of issues, including business and intercultural topics. Conversations will be monitored and aided by an experienced language teacher. This short course is ideal for learners with some degree of fluency (at least post GCSE), who want to enhance their spoken German before visiting a German-speaking country (privately or professionally) or taking up a position that involves the use of German.

Introduction to North African Culture (The Maghreb)
This course will provide an insight into cultural diversities and patterns in the Maghreb, will facilitate interaction and will foster intercultural awareness and communication. The course will be conducted in English and will be ideal for public and private sectors, Home Office staff, Foreign Office staff, British Council teachers, Employees (and spouses) on company overseas postings, NGOs, Charities and Aid Agencies, Travel and Tourist Boards all with specific interest in the Maghreb and independent travellers in the area.

Laila Ibnlfassi's research is primarily in the field of Post-colonial Literatures in French with particular reference to North African Literature and Culture.
Mohamed Guenuni’s main area of research and teaching expertise is in the area of Applied Languages and Islamic Studies. His particular interests are Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and the history of Islamic Society and Culture.
All Language and Culture classes and workshops will be held at North Campus, Tower Building, 166-220 Holloway Road, London N7 8DB.
