We have an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approach to our research in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. Our researchers make significant contributions to the social, cultural, economic and environmental spheres across a broad range of practice-based and applied research, from the areas of child and woman abuse studies, community development, creative writing, criminology, education, English literature, European studies, evaluation research, film and television studies, human rights and social justice, information management, learning technologies, mass communications, media theory and practice, language studies, migrations and society, performing arts, public health, regeneration, housing and planning, sociology and social policy, social work, translation, and work and employment relations.
We have research partners across the globe, partners in the UK, as well as in London and in the local communities that we serve. Our activities involve collaborations with the public sector, with the NHS to the Home Office, work with Research Foundations such as The Rowntree Foundation, as well as cultural organizations, charities and the voluntary sector.
Our research has also been translated into practical applications that transform lives and make a real impact on society. Our research has been applied to innovative training projects, manuals for best practice, tailor made short-courses, and has informed Government policy.
