BA Performing Arts
Studying Performing Arts at London Metropolitan will:

- encourage you to create your own performance work in both dance and theatre;

- provide the opportunity to perform and produce final year productions in professional venues;
- increase your understanding of performance texts through a range of critical and analytical approaches;
- offer you the choice of studying both Dance and Theatre simultaneously or to specialize after year one.
Career Opportunities
The combination of subject-specific skills and the particular nature of the transferable skills developed in the Performing Arts course enables graduates to pursue a broad range of career opportunities in the creative arts and educational fields. Especially given the time-management, personal organisation and collaborative skills honed in the practical activities, graduates can confidently explore employment in the arts, arts administration and the media. Graduates from the degree have undertaken a range of career routes. Some students have found immediate employment as performers on graduating. The work they have undertaken includes National and European Theatre tours and Theatre in Education Tours. Some Graduates have taken post graduate diplomas in acting and have then gone on to find acting work. Previous graduates have also set up Theatre companies both in this country and in Europe and have successfully applied for funding. Former students have also entered the dance world undertaking postgraduate vocational dance training and then working as professional dancers. Several students have taken M.A's in Performance and are currently working as visiting lecturers in H.E institutions. A number of former students have become teachers of drama and dance ( mainly at secondary level). A graduate of the degree also runs a high profile London venue and another is the administrator for a large theatre company.
