Centre for Research in Ethnicity and Gender
The centre was established in January 1994 to provide a forum for research focusing on the inter-relationships between gender, race and ethnicity. The centre runs a regular seminar series, which brings together scholars from inside and outside the university, and which also provides postgraduate researchers with the opportunity to present and discuss their work. The next series is planned for Spring 2008, and will be run in conjunction with the new MA Equality and Diversity. The centre has a strongly interdisciplinary focus, and is involved in individual and collaborative research within and across a range of disciplinary boundaries.CREG welcomes applications from prospective PhD students and can offer supervision in the following areas of expertise: gender, race and sexuality in 19th and 20th century Britain; gender, race and ethnicity in Western and postcolonial feminist theory; gender and ethnicity in Europe, social policy and the labour market; women and migration; and equality and diversity policy issues.
