Sue Lawrence

I am currently Principal Lecturer in International Social Work in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. I began teaching at the University in 1991 and prior to that I was a part-time Researcher in the Centre for Environmental and Social Studies of Ageing (CESSA) from 1985 - 1991.

There are several areas that I currently have responsibility for:

• European and International aspects of social work.
• Course Leader of the Professional Doctorate in International Social Work
• London Course Director of the MA Comparative European Social Studies (MACESS) which has been taught in Zuyd University, Maastricht, The Netherlands since 1994;
• QA of the social work programmes at the University;
• Strategic development of research in the Social Work subject area.

I was elected to serve as President of the European Association of Schools of Social Work in April 2011 for a term of four years (see www.eassw.org )

Current Research Interests:

• European and international Social Work and Social Work Education.
• Comparative social work and social policy.

Teaching Specialisms:

European and international social work; evaluating research and evidence based practice; social policy; comparative social policy; sociology for social work.
