I joined the University 2001 employed to specifically teach qualified social workers who would be responsible for practice teaching a social work student from this University. I was a Social Worker for many years working as a generic worker then specialising in the protection of children and Mental- health work. Following my social work practice I worked for several years as a freelance Trainer/Lecturer, external examiner and assessor for the post -qualifying child care award. I delivered training to many universities and local authorities, on child protection issues and ran and taught on various Practice Teachers Programmes.

I am employed at this University as module leader for the Practice Teaching Programme. I am also involved in teaching on two other modules, Law and Safe guarding children.

My special interests are in the continuing developments in practice education in social work and in the professional development of social workers through enabling others.

Currently I am responsible for the development of two new modules, these are post qualifying programmes in promoting Enabling others and the MA in Practice Education.
